A hallmark of Sean Anderson’s practice is its adaptability, an ability to honor a client’s sensibilities or a home’s innate spirit while remaining nimble, inventive, and free of repetition. This Memphis project exemplifies that quality, embracing a lighter, more delicate expression.

In the casual den, dark wallcoverings, a monumental 15-foot stone fireplace, and sculptural fixtures create drama, balanced by warm textiles. The space remains a gathering point for family, a place of comfort, connection, and quiet delight.

The interiors of this century-old Italianate estate comprising pristine mouldings, marble floors, and crystal chandeliers called for a sensitive, inventive hand. Inspiration came from an unexpected origin: an albino peacock discovered on a sourcing trip. The specimen’s jewel tones, taupes, and greys guided much of the palette, while custom pieces, including a floating burl-wood console, contemporary seating, and sculptural lighting, brought warmth, surprise, and Sean Anderson’s signature flair.

Getting to put my stamp on a style like this is something I wanted to tackle because I hadn’t done it.
