In a corner penthouse at one of downtown Manhattan’s most coveted addresses, Sean Anderson sought balance between luminous interiors, sweeping terraces, and uninterrupted city views. The pristine, fully renovated spaces became a canvas for layering texture, depth, and quiet drama.
At the clients’ request, the design bridges sleek Tribeca and sublime rural landscapes. Creamy tans and cool greys temper bold browns and blacks, while jagged natural surfaces meet smooth, reflective finishes. Rough-hewn beams in the kitchen and antique pavers in the entry ground the home with a sense of time and place.
Throughout, contrast shapes the rhythm of the rooms. Hard angles give way to curves: a rounded marble table echoes an ovular skylight above; a sculptural bar pairs a curving wood backdrop with angular shelving and a monolithic counter. An organically shaped coffee table softens the geometry of the great room. Ultimately, this is a residence that feels both refined and elemental: urban in outlook, sublime in spirit.
