For this storied Greek Revival in Memphis, Sean Anderson sought a fresh expression of the conversation between past and present. The design team collected both antique and contemporary pieces, allowing each to bring depth and resonance to the home.

As a result, new and custom elements enrich the interiors with subtle contrast: a pair of custom concrete consoles anchor the entry, while an eye-catching fixture floats above the dining table. Lighting led the design throughout, shaping mood and movement with a sense of intention. The fixtures themselves read as sculptural: carriers of atmosphere as much as illumination.

As the home took shape, each room revealed its natural place within the historically inspired structure. With the layout resolved, Sean Anderson designed each space in close dialogue with its purpose. In the kitchen, tramp art, a Southern folk tradition and longtime fascination of Sean’s, guided the handmade millwork, grounding the sunny center of daily activity. Handcrafted Italian tile adds texture and warmth in quiet counterpoint.

Throughout, woods, metals, and finishes are layered with restraint and confidence. Multiple stains coexist within a single room, creating a richness that feels intuitive rather than composed. The outcome is a home that honors its history while feeling fully alive; its character is experienced more than noticed.

I don’t feel like the job is ever done unless the clients see themselves represented in the home. This was a home run. Now when they show their house, they say it’s 100% them.
